Sock Monkey made his annual trek up to Hollywood to partake in the pre-Oscar hoopla. He got to see lots of behind the scenes Academy Award show set up and witness some very strange but amusing characters.
His favorite character was the Gene Simmons wannabe. He really enjoys his work. Entertaining the tourists on Hollywood Boulevard and posing for photos in the courtyard of Graumann's Chinese Theatre is not an easy way to earn a living!
Sock Monkey met a Japanese news crew that wanted to interview him. Typically, Sock Monkey was mum on the request. The Japanese adore Sock Monkey. Maybe they think he's the offspring of King Kong.
All in all it was a fun day!

Sock Monkey is proud of his heritageThe weekend long event has sock monkey making workshops, sock monkey vendors and the 2009 Miss Sockford Beauty Pageant. This year celebrates the 3rd Annual Sock Monkey International Film Festival.
The museum houses a one of its kind Sock Monkey exhibit entitled, The Missing Link: Socks, Monkeys and Rockford's Industrial Past. The museum's collection of Sock Monkey history dates back to 1870's with an up-to-date exhibit of all things Sock Monkey.
If you can't make it to Rockford next year, you can always shop at the museum's online Sock Monkey store.
